Vidyame is a platform for preserving, organizing, and sharing Indic civilization knowledge. Our communities are intended to support learning, respectful discussion, cultural continuity, dhārmic inquiry, adhyātma, sādhana, family education, creator engagement, and meaningful connection.
These Community Guidelines explain the behavior expected from users, creators, authors, curators, publishers, community administrators, and subscribers when participating in Vidyame.
By using Vidyame communities, you agree to follow these guidelines, Vidyame’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Copyright & Rights Protection Policy, and any other applicable policies.
1. Respect the Purpose of Vidyame
Vidyame exists to support authentic learning and respectful engagement with Indic civilization.
Community participation should support:
- Learning
- Inquiry
- Preservation
- Practice
- Respectful discussion
- Family and youth-safe engagement
- Civilizational understanding
- Community building
Vidyame is not a place for abuse, harassment, misinformation, exploitation, spam, or divisive conduct that damages the learning environment.
2. Be Respectful
Users must treat others with dignity.
Do not:
- Harass, threaten, or intimidate others
- Attack people based on identity, belief, language, region, caste, nationality, gender, age, or background
- Use degrading or abusive language
- Encourage hostility toward individuals or communities
- Shame users for their level of knowledge or practice
- Mock sincere questions
- Target creators, teachers, communities, or families with coordinated abuse
Disagreement is allowed. Disrespect is not.
3. Honor the Diversity of Indic Traditions
Indic civilization includes many sampradāyas, Darśanas, panths, languages, regions, lineages, practices, schools, communities, and interpretations.
Users should engage with humility and care.
Do not present one tradition, teacher, practice, or interpretation as the only valid expression of Indic civilization unless the content is clearly identified as representing a specific lineage or viewpoint.
Healthy discussion is welcome. Sectarian hostility is not.
4. Share Accurate and Responsible Content
Users should make reasonable efforts to share content that is accurate, properly sourced, and responsibly presented.
When discussing texts, history, rituals, sādhana, health-related practices, or traditional knowledge, users should avoid making false, exaggerated, or misleading claims.
Where possible, users should provide:
- Source references
- Context
- Tradition or lineage information
- Author or translator attribution
- Clear distinction between text, interpretation, opinion, story, symbolism, and history
- The relevant Darśana, sampradāya, lineage, or regional tradition
- Whether a claim is textual, commentarial, historical, linguistic, archaeological, scientific, or personal
- Whether instruction requires qualification, initiation, or supervised guidance
- A clear distinction between traditional siddhānta and comparative interpretation
5. No Unauthorized Content
Do not upload, post, or share content that you do not have the right to use.
This includes unauthorized:
- Books
- Translations
- Commentaries
- Audio recordings
- Music
- Videos
- Images
- Course material
- Publisher content
- Paid or restricted content
- Creator-owned content
Many ancient Indic texts may be public domain, but modern editions, translations, recordings, images, and commentaries may still be protected by copyright.
6. Protect Children and Teens
Vidyame may support children, teens, and family learning.
Users must not post or share content that exploits, targets, endangers, manipulates, or inappropriately communicates with minors.
Do not:
- Ask children or teens for personal information
- Encourage minors to contact adults privately outside Vidyame
- Share inappropriate, sexual, violent, or exploitative content involving minors
- Expose young users to mature discussions without proper safeguards
- Bypass parent or age-based controls
Youth safety is a core responsibility of the Vidyame community.
7. No Spam, Manipulation, or Misuse
Users may not use Vidyame to spam, manipulate engagement, mislead users, or abuse platform features.
Do not:
- Post repetitive promotional content
- Artificially inflate likes, views, follows, or subscriptions
- Use bots or fake accounts
- Mislead users into joining communities or subscriptions
- Abuse reporting or appeal systems
- Scrape or extract data without permission
- Circumvent platform rules or access controls
8. Community Leaders and Administrators
Community leaders and administrators have additional responsibilities.
They must:
- Moderate respectfully
- Protect member privacy
- Avoid misuse of member information
- Follow Vidyame’s policies
- Prevent harassment and abuse
- Maintain quality and relevance of community content
- Clearly communicate community purpose and expectations
- Avoid misleading claims about authority, affiliation, lineage, or credentials
Vidyame may restrict or remove communities that violate platform policies.
9. Enforcement
Vidyame may take action when these guidelines are violated.
Actions may include:
- Warning the user
- Removing content
- Restricting visibility
- Limiting comments or posting
- Removing a user from a community
- Suspending community features
- Pausing creator privileges
- Suspending or terminating an account
- Removing or closing a community
- Reporting unlawful activity where appropriate
Vidyame may consider context, severity, repeated behavior, safety concerns, legal obligations, and platform integrity when deciding what action to take.
10. Our Community Promise
Vidyame communities should be places where knowledge is preserved, questions are welcomed, traditions are respected, and learners feel safe to grow.
